Mushtaq Ahmed helps poor children and familes in Sahiwal, Pakistan

Pakistan cricket legend, Mushtaq Ahmed teamed up with HAPC last September in hosting a fund-raising function in London.   Mushtaq’s only aim – to raise sufficient money to start a building project for children and families in his home town Sahiwal Pakistan in Guava Pind.  In a single night of fund-raising, £10,000 was raised and Mushtaq, in thanking those who attended the fund raiser for their kind generosity, said his work for those less fortunate was about to being.

So, at the end of the 2007 UK cricket season, where Mushtaq was the country’s leading wicket-taker for the 5th consecutive year, he returned to Pakistan and immediately set about to locate some land where he was to commence plans for the construction of 2 houses to accommodate a total of 12 people.

At the time of writing this report, Mushtaq’s project was about 80% complete and, as he returned to the UK for the start of the 2008 cricket campaign, he said that by the time he returns to Pakistan, he hoped the project would come to a successful end.

The construction (above and below) of another 2 room house, given to another family of 6, who had never before had a home to call their own.

Mushtaq also turned to families in dire need of medical help and purchased for them insulin and other medicines for conditions such as diabetes, angina and arthritis.  New manjis (pakistani bed) were also bought for other families, some of whom had only ever known the floor for a bed.  Mushtaq also assisted others with groceries so that they could have a ‘home cooked meal’.

Please continue to support Mushtaq’s project and help him bring more joy to many more desperate for help.
